BKO, founded by Phehello Mofokeng and Teboho Mofokeng when the were still young bucks charging around the local performance scene, is today largely a loosely knitted collection of writers and poets in Joburg and beyond. 

The BKO web site acts as the hub currently, but the BKO crew used their younger years well, putting together a strong series of youth workshops at venues such as Consitution Hill, culminating in the Black Word Festival. In the initial years BKO Mag - a zine servicing the spoken word scene - was the focus, today BKO is involved in all sorts of diverse stuff.
